Last week, the Poetry Festival of Lodeve (France), titled "Voix de la Mediterranee" was held. It was an interesting mixture of poetry, music and in fact getting acquainted with different cultures. It recalled an earlier experience I had on a conference on Complexity (for managers) in London, a number of years ago, where David Whyte cited out of his poetry book for managers: The Heart Aroused. In a masters course I recently taught, together with Erna Oldenboom, we labelled it as the rather non-rational forms of knowledge. Details on that course can be found in the news and discussion section of this blog.
Until today, I am not sure we give enough attention to these non-rational (or less-rational) forms of knowledge, be it poetry or music for instance. During our international seminars a few months ago, we had a course on "Music (and tango in particular) as a metaphor for organisations. For the students, a world of difference opened. In an earlier post I commented the book "Duende". I am waiting for an elective "Flamenco as a metaphor for organisations". Who dares ?
